A woman walking her dog finds dinosaur-like creature in a lake – is shocked when she learns what it really is

Locals in Cumbria, England were shocked to find a spiky, dinosaur-like creature bathing in a small lake. Named Fluffy by rescuers, it’s actually a juvenile alligator snapping turtle, known for its powerful bite that can sever fingers.

Denise Chamberlain, a local councillor who recognized the turtle from her time in Florida, rescued it after spotting it near Urswick Tarns. These invasive turtles, native to the southern U.S., can grow up to 200 lbs and threaten local wildlife by upsetting the delicate ecosystem.

Using caution, Denise safely captured Fluffy and took it to Wild Side Vets in Barrow-in-Furness. The vets warned against abandoning exotic pets and urged owners to seek help if they can’t care for them.

Fluffy will be relocated to a wildlife center in Cornwall for proper care. Locals praised the rescue and the turtle’s unique appearance. This story is a reminder to be responsible when owning pets, especially exotic ones. What do you think of Fluffy? Share this story to spread the word!
